Daahoud Salim Quintet: Amsterdam - New York Connection

Daahoud Salim Quintet is one of the grantees of NAJ’s New York Fund which was launched in March 2022. NAJ helped facilitate a tour of some key cities in the United States in close collaboration with Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Founded in Amsterdam in 2015, the Daahoud Salim Quintet is a jazz ensemble that has already performed in some of the most prestigious stages and festivals in Europe (San Sebastian Jazzaldia Jazz Festival, Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Madrid International Jazz Festival, Teatros Canal, Jamboree, Auditorio Parco dalla Musica of Rome). In 2016 the band is awarded in the 40th edition of Getxo Jazz Festival, with the 1st Prize for the Best Band and Best Soloist Prize. In 2017 the DSQ received the 1st Prize for the Best Band and the Sabam Culture Prize, for the Best Arrangement, during the B-Jazz Contest, in Leuven, Belgium. In 2022 Daahoud Salim won the 1st prize at the Big Band Arrangement and Composition Competition Fundación SGAE- Asociación Ool-ya-koo. The band has released four albums: La Llamada (2016), Getxo Live (2016), La Búsqueda (2017), and Jamboree Live (2019). The band had American featuring artists such as Abdu Salim, and Phillip Harper, a former member of the Jazz Messengers.
