Having lived and studied in various corners of the world, he developed a strong voice and personality in the jazz idiom and beyond. Currently, Matthias is performing with his award-winning trio featuring some of Europe's most prolific musicians: Tijs Klaassen (bass) and Wouter Kühne (drums). They released their debut album 'Three Sides of a Coin' in 2023, which was enthusiastically received during an international release tour in the same year.

With their new show ‘Fields of Color’, they draw inspiration from the fabulous paintings of Mark Rothko, the 20th-century grandmaster of abstract expressionism. Especially for this new project, the incomparable trumpeter Jean-Paul Estiévenart joins the trio.

Imaginarium

The Imaginarium is a place where reality and fiction fuse into one. That is the goal of ‘’Imaginarium’’ to intertwine the worlds of Jazz, Dub, and club culture.

With a musical career that spans from writing string arrangements for Disney+ series to playing, producing, and writing for bands including Dragonfruit, Peter Somuah Group, and Y.O.P.E that have enjoyed press acclaim, international radio play and festivals like North Sea Jazz and Eurosonic Noorderslag, the new project encapsulates all of these influences into a kaleidoscope of genres that blends jazz, funk, dub, afrobeat, and cinematic elements resulting in a colorful and rich sound that would work just as well in a club setting as outside in nature. With an album on the way for early 2024, Imaginarium is one to keep an eye on.

Ella Zirina Trio

Ella Zirina (1997) is a jazz guitarist, composer and bandleader from Latvia, with a passion for the different textures and timbres of her instrument. Zirina’s Trio has been awarded the first prize in the 7 Virtual Jazz Club Competition.

Teis Semey Quintet

The “Bad Boy of Dutch Jazz” (Trouw”), guitarist Teis Semey, has become one of the newest names to take center focus across the European jazz scene. If with the punk-infused avant-garde of the Teis Semey Quintet, the choral folky Midnight Mess or the electro/acoustic Raw Fish, Semey’s storm-in-with-guns-blazing attitude to music has earned him his spot as one of the most important young up-coming names in the European jazz scene in 2023.

The “rising star” (NRC) has five albums behind him, and there is no sign of stopping. This year he is released the Midnight Mess vol 1, and is set to release the debut of Raw Fish in April 2024, as well as a new album with the Teis Semey Quintet.

Valvetronic

Valvetronic is the boldest festival brass band from the Netherlands, based on and inspired by EDM and hip-hop music. Music to dance on played on some drums and a lot of horns. Valvetronic presents a bold, loud, and energetic show that will make you dance and jump for the whole night, without a doubt.

The band is taking an adventurous sidestep by making an album with hip-hop music. For each song, they invited rappers and vocalists to write lyrics to new compositions. Amongst others, guest artists are Ntjam Rosie, Kay Slice, JAÏNDA, Louisa Brunhoso, and Tano Rivers. By combining hip-hop and brass, Valvetronic is the first brass band in the Netherlands to make an album such as this one.

Lucas Santana, featuring the Adam Quartet, invites audiences on a musical journey to Brazil, seamlessly blending traditional Brazilian folk rhythms with classical music. Originally composed for the string quartet of Concertgebouw, the project evolved in 2023 when Santana extended an invitation to collaborate with the Adam Quartet, an emerging classical ensemble based in Amsterdam.

Kotokid

Imagine combining 80ies jazz-fusion and contemporary trip-hop. Right in the sweet spot of those two, lies the music of Amsterdam-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Freek Mulder aka kotokid. What you get is face-melting harmonies over murderous drums, vast synth-scapes, and fragile piano ballads. Performing live, kotokid plays bass while controlling a spaceship of synths, accompanied by guitar wizard Maarten Cima, and drummer beast Jonathan Szegedi. Perfectly in tune with their electronics, this trio manages to produce a DJ-scaring wall of sound, while maintaining the musical freedom and energy of a fusion band.

After releasing his first EP Fledge in 2022, kotokid played all over the Netherlands at venues like Bimhuis, BIRD, and Injazz, with his trio. Playing new music and experimenting with different setups, the band started to really live up to their full potential. In 2023 they bottled up all that goodness into a new record, which is to come out in spring 2024.

Amarea

Born in Vigo, Spain, Eloi Pascual Nogué started his journey on the drums at the age of 3, playing along to AC/DC and Queen. Starting out in a classical conservatory, Eloi started getting interested in jazz, taking drum lessons with Iago Fernández and ensemble lessons at SPJ Pontevedra. His trio, Amarea, features pianist Chaerin Im (Sun Mi Hong quintet) and electric bassist Matteo Mazzù (Waan, Chai Masters). Together they focus on compositions by the hand of Pascual, which aim to bring together his wide musical inspirations and love for improvisation, forming a little universe in itself to stimulate their creativity.
