Olaiá Music

As a music production house and collective supported by New Amsterdam Jazz, Olaiá Music connects and amplifies Brazilian music in the Netherlands.

What started as a personal challenge for founder Breno Virícimo, became the start of a community of musicians in the Netherlands that are passionate about Brazilian music. From MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), Sambas and Bossa Nova, Olaiá Music has released over 100 live recording videos with more than 40 artists. With new videos at stunning locations releasing every Saturday, Olaiá Music has already amassed a following of almost 4000 fans.

Even though most of its platform has been built online and the creation and production often takes place remotely, the collective branched out in the summer of 2021: with their very first residency program, Olaiá Music and New Amsterdam Jazz bring Brazilian artists to the Netherlands so that the process of creating together can happen in person too. By presenting the result of these residencies at concert venues, Olaiá and New Amsterdam Jazz have given the fans the opportunity to experience the beauty of their music in a live setting.
